Maria Werkiser, V.M.D.

After graduating with a B.S. from the University of Delaware in 1983, Dr. Werkiser worked in industry and private and specialty veterinary practices for two years. In 1985, she entered the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, while working summers at Penn's large animal New Bolton Center.

Dr. Werkiser graduated first in her class from veterinary school in 1990, and went on to do an internship at Delaware Equine Center. In 1992, she changed gears and started in small animal practice. She has been working at Wilmington Animal Hospital since 1998.

When not working, Dr. Werkiser enjoys spending time with her three daughters and her husband. She is an avid horseback rider and student of tai kwondo.
